Applied Cybernetics provides factory
and on-site training for orbital welder operation and
maintenance.
Operator
training includes the following course outline with test
certification at the end:
1. Orbital equipment setup: welding
power supply, weldhead, cooler, fixturing, part preparation.
2. Welding power supply electrical configuration, hookup,
powerup, programming, weldhead motor calibration, weld
test dry run, welding.
3. Weldhead bench placement, hookup to power supply, collet
installation and adjustment, tungsten electrode installation/removal
and gap setting, motor calibration, purge gas settings
for arc and backup including backup gas optional pressure,
welding and monitoring, weld inspection and tungsten electrode
monitoring, cooling performance.
4. Cooler hookup, coolant addition/dumping, flow sensor
and coolant level monitoring, coolant temperature and
fan operation.
5. Fixture (where applicable) setup and installation.
6. Tube cutoff and squaring operation, preparation techniques,
cutting tool monitoring and replacement, end prep requirements
and inspection
Weldhead maintenance
raining includes the following course outline with test
certification at the end:
1. Weldhead inspection and test:
finding malfunctions. Observing welds, checking surface
color, checking concentricity and axial run out.
2. Weldhead disassembly: Familiarity of assembly drawings
and Bills of Materials (BOM's), sequence of disassembly
operation, handle removal, cable and fluid lines removal,
motor subassembly removal, clamping mechanism disassembly,
weldhead body disassembly, gear train removal.
3. Weldhead part inspection and pass/fail criteria. Gear
teeth and bearings, motor current draw, home switch operation
and setting, gear train subassembly and homing switch
synch, coolant plate inspection, body inspection for carbon
paths and cracking, remote switch operation, clamping
force smoothness and operation, inspection window condition.
4. Weldhead reassembly and checkout: Sequence of reassembly
and tests, torque settings for fasteners, cable reattachment
and checkout, full system test and welding validation.
